What is the best dog park on the East Side of Los Angeles?

The Griffith Park dog park is decent. Large space, some shade trees and seating for humans. During my visits the dog owners seem to be responsible and pick up after their dogs. Main challenge is the lack of grass. Your dog will be extremely dirty.
Took my dog to the dog park on the corner of Whitnall and Cahuenga in NOHO for the first time yesterday. I was hesitant at first due to the Yelp reviews. But...I was pleasantly surprised. The park is well-maintained except for some dirt patches, and the dog owners were attentive and responsible for their dogs. Convenient location for NOHO and Burbank dog owners. Biggest plus was that the dogs were very socialized, and not aggressive.
I find that Viña Vieja Park in Pasadena is the best dog park. It is located on East Orange Grove, a few blocks east of Sierra Madre Blvd. It has shade and grass. I always do a quick check prior to entering to look for aggressive dogs. In my experience, the owners have been responsible and in control of their dogs. Runyon Canyon and Griffith Park are 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
I avoid the "dog parks" most are not really sanitary and the owners don't watch their dogs so often times the dogs run wild. Runyon Canyon is fantastic! Its a public hiking park that allows dogs off leash in most of the park. Since the dogs are with their owners and are usually moving and hiking, they mingle very nicely. Runyon runs from West Hollywood on the South to the Hollywood Hills on the North, its a huge area and you can get a great workout with your pooch. There are entrances on both sides. Google it!
