Best Paella in NYC?

Ever since I got back from NYC, I've had a hankering for proper, saffron-red, spicy paella. Anyone have any recommendations for where I should go in NYC to get that same flavor?

@ajadedidealist Friends have said great things about the Socarrat Paella Bar which is in Chelsea but I have yet to make it there..its insanely popular and doesnt take reservations hence it often has long lines outside its doors-http://socarratpaellabar.com/

I had a bad experience with paella at a student cafeteria facility in Spain, and I think I have been somewhat reluctant to have any ever since.... Maybe it's time to reconsider? Is there really only one great place for paella in this entire city?

Wow, thanks for the tips, guys! There used to be a restaurant called Alphabet City in the East Village (weird, right?) that I really liked, but it has long since been replaced by bigger and better things

Wow, ajadeidealist. That's a tough order. I'm racking my brains to think of something and still haven't come up with anything good.

ajadedidealist: try El Pote Espanol on 2nd between 38th and 39th! They're pretty famous for their paella.
