Cars

I have never bought my car from a dealership. Recently I had a friend who asked me if I knew of any reliable dealerships in NY, NY. I didn't really know how to answer this question. Like I said, I've never bought my car at a dealership. Mine were always from other poeple. My current car, a red Ford Escort ZX2 is from my brother who was moving to WA at the time and needed money. So, does any one have any advice?

Isn't reliable dealership kind of an oxymoron? I know Carmax is reliable as far as what you see is what you get - but they only charge blue book value, and you can't get any sort of deal like you can if you haggle with a regular dealership.

I bought my current car from a guy who was selling it and it turned out to be a good deal. I don't really know anything about dealerships in the area, but I know a lot of people have been getting great deals on brand new cars because the business has been doing so terribly. Maybe tell your friend to look into that? A new car is not the best investment, but at least you know there shouldn't be anything terribly wrong with it.

Thanks for all the ino. I agree. I'm actually looking into a used Chevy Cavelier at the moment. My current car wouldn't sell more than $1,050. It's been worn and torn but looks in good condition on the outside. Trying to figure my best move on getting another car that doesn't have a serpentine belt issue. Keeps falling off and turns out it's the pulley. I'm actually learning more about cars with as much as mines has issues. Put more into it than it's worth. I'm gonna go. Very sick and achy. Taking mucinex D and loads of tea. Having trouble concentrating on my writing though. Again, thanks for everyones input.
