If you're looking for something regional, you could look into where various celebrities were born and grew up. I have no idea where Angelina Jolie is from, for example. Or Conan O'Brien, or whoever. You just don't think of them as coming from anywhere in particular.
Yeah @Freyja4 in our tabloid culture that topic would definitely garner much attention..
What about "funny street signs" or "funny sight gags" - Photo blogs are quite popular ! You can even do one that is NYC-based/focused.
@ajadedidealist: That is a good idea. I know I recently thought of one while joining a cause on my facebook. Celebritites + Causes. I have yet to decided how many parts to that series. I love that idea of funny signs though. I would have to see if Wikimedia has any becuase we have to use photos that have consent unless they are our own.
@Freyja4 Try Creative Commons with the license to use commercially , they usually have free images that you can use as long as you credit the photographer.
