Is yonkers a good move for a young couple looking to have a family?

We are looking for a house in Normandy Road but I do not know anything about Yonkers. I have heard that the schools have the lowest rating in all of Westchester which makes me nervous because we are planning on having a family. Is there word that the schools might get better? Is the area near Ridge Hill a good area?
