Any advises on renting a place near University of Melbourne!!!???

Looking for 2-4 beds and within 2 km radius of the University. I am going there in the coming February. I have never been to Australia before. I have searched through various websites for places to rent and have found some that I am interested in. I am looking for local advises that would hopefully save me a few mistakes.
