Though perhaps not as dangerous as the Mission or the Tenderloin, Outer Mission is not that safe.
In January, for example there was a murder down by the southern end of Alemany. There have also been 2 more murders in neighboring Inglside. There have also been hundreds of assaults in the area since the beginning of the year--so you are definitely talking the kind of neighborhood where you want to keep your wits about you.
