Most residents park on the streets. I've seen BMW, Mercedes, etc.parked and not touched. But I have also seen cars (rare) with busted out windows. I guess if you leave something out in the open, someone is going to try to take it, no matter where you are located. Many people drive to work, so it clears out during the day, but at night after 8pm, it can be hard to find parking.
