What are the advantages of living in a gated community?

Most have surveillance so they are quite safe, but Patterson Lakes is a safe suburb anyway and we don't have any issues with crime. The other advantage I can think of is that maybe there would be a greater community feel, and you would get to know others living in the gated community with you.
