There aren't any neighborhoods like Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Island is completely isolated. It's hard to get in and out of so there's no transient community. There's also not much of a nightlife scene -- actually there isn't one at all. It doesn't even seem like you're in New York, save for the Manhattan Skyline view. It's bizarre.
