Would you recommend living in Rozelle?

We are an Aussie expat family (kids 10 and 7) who are contemplating a move home after many years in Hong Kong. We are attracted to the Rozelle area, particularly the Balmain shores development for many reasons. Firstly we are used to (and really enjoy) apartment living within a resort like community which is fairly common up here. I find it easy to make friends, socialise regulary and the kids have a lot of freedom to run in and out of neighbours houses. We are also in close proximity to the city here and it's great bars and restaurants and night life. Finally we love being surrounded by open minded friends from all walks of lives and cultures. These things seem to be in abundance in the Rozelle area and particularly Balmain cove. Would I be correct in thinking this? I would really appreciate any advice.
