Halloween

What is the story with Halloween in San Francisco? I've heard it's a big holiday but haven't really heard much more. I found this site, which seems to have some club-like events, but I don't necessarily need that atmosphere. Are there any other fun things to do that night/weekend? Is it really as big as I've heard it to be?

You know we love a good reason to get all costumed up in SF, but, not ever having lived anywhere else, I never really thought of the Bay Area as being any more into it than anywhere else. As a matter of fact, here in Lafayette most areas are so hilly and without sidewalks that people don't really do the door to door thing. My brother is having a Halloween party, otherwise I wouldn't know where to go.

This year, btw, I'm thinking vampire--its an easy costume for me--I can just spueeze into my leftover duds from my gothy period and get some fake blood and teeth. (I will probably be the only one since vampires are so overlooked in pop-culture these days).;)

Hahaha, well put, @Flowergirl! I actually haven't gone as far as how I want to dress up. Last year, I was at a conference and dressed as a belly dancer; the year before I went to a theme park and didn't dress up.

Anyone have any good costume ideas??
