Little Known Fact...

I was actually inspired from another post to submit this thread. Did you know that you can obtain tickets to Wicked on the day of performance for a mere $25? It's possible, if you are one of the lucky names that is drawn in the lottery. This is true of all Wicked performances that I know of, and the seats are...in the front row. Show up 2 1/2 hours in advance, submit your name, and two hours before curtain, they draw names for either one or two tickets. It's a great, cheap way to get some Broadway-style action. The link below has more info:

I'm not sure if there are other shows that do the same thing, but it's worth looking into.

I know that the Berkeley Rep has a policy like that too. You are not guaranteed to get a seat, but if you put yourself on the waiting list and stick around, you can sometimes get in. The matinees are usually the best bet if they have them.

Really great post Steph, I had totally forgotten about this option.

Sweet. I looked up Berkeley Rep, and they have all sorts of discount options (online rush, under 30 discounts, student rush, etc.) This page lists them all:

I'm sure other places have similar policies. It is pretty much the M.O. for most Broadway and off-Broadway theaters in New York, but people in other cities generally aren't as aware of this option.

Great post! We should keep an eye out for that sort of thing--people can use a break anywhere they can find it these days.
