Tolls, tolls, tolls!

Apparently it is not just the Bay Bridge that has made the change...other bridges have hiked up the tolls, too! I got completely screwed tonight - FINALLY remembered my $4 cash for the Eastbound Carquinez Bridge (which I always seem to forget, apparently) and lo and behold, they have raised the price from $4 to $5! I literally only had $4 on me (plus like 20 cents in change), so rather than cut me some slack on the last 75 cents, the toll operator gave me the toll violation form and told me to contest it when I mailed the $5 check in. Don't make the same mistake I did...

On the plus side, no one has ever actually mailed me one of those toll violation forms...

Yikes! That is why I always take BART into the city. Tolls + parking will cost you an arm and a leg. With the amount of money my brother spends on parking alone, I could get my Berkeley apartment back.

I know someone in Berkeley who has an apartment that includes a parking spot. She pays somewhere in the neighborhood of $700/month for the room in her apartment, and rents out her spot for $750/month. Ridiculous.

I hope the garage has a nice view of the Golden Gate bridge for those prices.

Although that does sound like a business opportunity. Maybe Craig's list should list parking spaces. Something like, "Nice cozy space in two car garage, to share with vintage Volvo. Looking for SAAB or newer model import--MUST HAVE SMOG and reference from mechanic.
Cost? Either an arm-and-leg; or the shirt off you back."

Yeah, I thought about renting an apartment in Berkeley myself just to rent out the parking space. How about "Japanese and German cars only, Americans need not apply."

Seriously though, parking spaces should be listed on Craigslist, especially around here...
