La Nina, scientists say, is what is giving is our strange current weather which seems not to completely fall into the usual pattern that we expect here. Before La Nina, we used to get cold weather until late Spring, then it would heat up in early summer. There would be coldish August as if summer were over and then you would get a hot September ('Indian Summer") before it cooled down again.

This summer like last has been really, unusually cold all the way through though we are now currently experience the typical Indian Summer of September.

On the other hand, Mark Twain when visiting SF bemoaned there was only one season here all year long--fog and about seventy degrees forever and ever. (He said it better than me. But than again, he is Mark Twain.)
