Moving to Seattle and buying a home.

My gf and I are moving to Seattle from Los Angeles. My job will be in South Lake Union. I would like to buy a house with a yard in a safe neighbourhood for under $900k and without a crazy commute. We're homebodies with no intention of having kids. Where would you advise I look? Thank you in advance!
