"Undiscovered gold"

I can't believe that this place hasn't taken off yet. Beautiful island, sea and hill views, excellent deep sea fishing, close to unspoilt parks and beaches. Only 104kms from Adelaide. (Ok, so the nightlife and internet access aren't great, but when I take my family on holidays, I don't want them sitting staring at screens all day and night!) Perfect jumping off point for visiting KI, bush walking, diving, chartered fishing adventures etc. Very peaceful. Can be quite windy, but is cooler than more northern townships. Also isn't far from Normanville, Second Valley, Rapid Bay or even Inman Valley, Victor Harbor etc making it an excellent starting point for day trips. Does need a few more shops, but they will come as the township expands. Maybe perfect location for a coffee shop/bakery/craft shop/another take away food shop. Currently on rainwater, but there have been plans for some time for a desal plant. With the starfish hill wind farm nearby it would make good sense. Once water is laid on I think Cape Jervis will move from a fishing village to a much more popular tourist township,

"Sleepy town with loads of potential .."

Cape Jervis is a sleepy town with loads of potential. Awesome views across backstairs passage to Kangaroo Island, only 1.5 hrs from Adelaide, and less than an hour from Noarlunga. Average prices in the town are still low, but you get the impression the place is about to boom. This would have to be one of the last seafront hamlets that hasn't ! 5 or 6 fishing charter groups work out of cape jervis, the heysen trail starts there, deep creek conservation park, Morgans beach sandhills, talisker mine conservation park, a free boat ramp, some excellent beaches, wind farm, farms, diving and fishing. A really great community as well with a community hall, playground and footy oval, pub, restaurant and general store, as well as a load of good accommodation alternatives. Then there is the .... shockingly awful internet access, with wireless expensive slow 3g broadband and slow satellite the only options, no mains water in the town, no mains sewerage, a below average council that focuses on Yankalilla, Normanville and Carakalinga as it's jewels and forgets the rest .. get in while you can !
