Local members do they help or not at all

I found that they do help with lots of issues at first but at times they do not I had a problem where a neighbour tried to run over and phisically tried to hit my 5 yr old autistuc son and I complaint to my local memeber as I live in government housing and I want out as the street is occupied by not drug free people, this memeber told me that since the police was called that this neughbour would not re-offend as once the police are called people are too scared to do anything . How stupid is she there is an obvious problem with the youths and so on on the central coast and she tells me that once the police is called that people dont re offend PLEASE PULL THE OTHER LEG>>>>>>>>>>>>> I told HER that people do re offend especially people who are obviously not normal .. i told this neighbour that my son was autistic and that he cant talk as she claimed he swore at her. she said she was going to give him a f....ing problem.. this grown up is talking to a 5 yr old child how disgusting is that now my car tyres have been flaten twice in 2 weeks. yet the department of housing is more understanding than the local member. i cant rely on the local member as i find her attitude disgusting who do i turn to.

You could try the local government - the council, if your local member of state parliament is not helpful.

Hi emeraldmay,

This sounds like a really unfortunate problem you have here. People DO re-offend, it's a well known statistic that once people go to jail, they are more likely to re-offend. I think Brian is correct in saying that your only course of action would be the local government member.

I do understand that Police can't really do anything in this situation as it really is a "he said, she said" events with little\no evidence, and especially since no one was hurt.

Sorry if I can't help emeraldmay, please let us know how you go.

You could also try the state minister for Health or Education, or even the opposition spokesperson for these areas, who may want to push the government on issues like this.
