Retiring to Adelaide

My wife and I have always loved Adelaide but I have spent all my working life in Brisbane. That working life is coming to an end and we wish to retire to Adelaide. Two major requirements - walk to public transport (as my wife cannot drive due to a disability) and enough land for veg garden and chooks (800 square meters plus). Would like to spend no more than $550,000. We are both dangerously close to 60 years of age.
