Sleepy Hollow or not?

I was thinking before, i've never even been to Adelaide and all i hear about it is that is a quiet town with not alot to do. Is this true?

Opinions? Would be good to hear what people think about Adelaide compared to living in other cities around Australia.

I can't comment as a comparison to living in other places as SA has always been my home..... But I can say as a person who was born and raised in SA, while it is quieter than other states there is still plenty to do.

It all depends on what you like to do and see !?!?

I can't tell you anything of the night life because I've never been a Night Clubber but life is never boring.

In Adelaide itself there is the Casino, Accommadation for any level of comfort or taste and a range of places to eat out (again for every taste). The Art Gallery, Museum, Bitanical Gardens and various places of intrest to tour such as The Old Parliament House and Churches (we are the city of churches) are fantastic to visit as a sight seer.

Out of Adelaide there are wineries throughout the entire state. To the mid north of the state is old mining towns full of history to explore and to the south in Victor Harbour is where whale watching takes place and along all cost lines as any states fishing is big. At Glenelg you can go to see dulphins or learn diving.

Less touristy things to do are to go paint balling, 4WDing, ice skating, swimming, camp in any region your heart desires, we have some fantastic little cafes or find a nice park to let the kids run while mum grabs a book.

At 34 I am now dicovering the history of this place all over again in a different way and when we go out the kids are never bored what ever we do.

There are all the usual sporting, music and festival type events with the exception of artists who think the only states in Australia are Vic, NSW and Qld.

We are quieter but there is still PLENTY to do.

Definately NOT. It could appear that way to someone who is not from Adelaide, and I certaily thought that when I first moved here from South Africa. Now that I have a network of friends around me, and know where to go, it has made a huge difference. You have to know where to go at night, because you can get caught out with nothing to do if you arent in the right place at the right time. The cosmopolitan life of coffees and sipping wine on the beach front is just beautiful, and if you have kids, there are so many activities to get involved in.
