Depends on your budget of course but inner southside is great.
Woolloongabba, Highgate Hill, Dutton Park are all in the Brisbane State High School (GPS School) catchment areas and have good primary schools as well.
If budget is below those areas, the majority of suburbs within 10-15km on the South or Northside have good transport to the city if required daily.
