Is there much hunting or fishing near Union Vale?

There is definitely some. Verbank Hunting and Fishing Club is in Union Vale and that's evidently where some of the locals go. Also right near here is the Taconic-Hereford Multiple Use Area, which does permit seasonal hunting only. Don't know about fishing here but it's quite possible.

Outside the town, there are other hunting clubs scattered throughout the central and eastern part of the county.
