Tenterfield

"Tenterfield - the jewel of the the New England area"

Tenterfield is a beautiful , leafy country town full of history- lovely old buildings and beautiful trees. Tenterfield has 4 seasons each year- it is considered a temperate climate- wonderful for exotic plants, deciduous trees, roses, lavenders, perennial plants etc. Shopping is quite good considering the town population is about 3500- we have a new Bi Lo supermarket and a new Target Country- there are a number of very nice "specialty" shops in addition to the usual- Soul Pattinson Chemist, Hardware stores, Curtain/ haberdashery, Sport stores, shoe shop, coffee shops, pizza places etc We have 3 G.P. Surgery's, and the Hospital has an updated Emergency Dept etc. We have an Aged care Hostel and the nursing home has just had a big extension- taking it to 50 beds. The nursing home is only about 5 years old. We have a glorious golf course ( very popular with visitors) and good Bowling green/club. There are a myriad of Clubs for adults and also for the children. Tenterfield is a great place for kids.We have Pre school, Child care 2 Primary schools ( the Catholic school has just had a $3million update and extension-) and High School. We also have a Cinema - a huge plus for a town of this size. There has been a steady influx of people moving here from Brisbane and the north coast region- looking for the tree change- a better climate and some wonderful peace and quiet- as a result there has been a lot of renovating of lovely old homes and the planting of new gardens -- to further enhance the town's lovely character. Tenterfield is only 2.5 hours from Brisbane - 2 hours from Toowoomba and 1 hour from Warwick for extra shopping - also only 1.5 hours drive from the North Coast- what more could you want!!!!!!

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids

Annie works for a real estate agency, obviously. Tenterfield may appear to "have it all", but it's just not for YOU, Outsider!! It all looks and seems amazing, it seems like an idyllic little country town... but be warned, something very sinister lurks just beneath the surface. Freemasonry has a stranglehold on this town and the people in it, from top to bottom. It's the most oppressive, sinister atmosphere that seems to settle on people within 12 months of moving here. Bad juju. Very unhappy people, jealousies, spite, malice, threats and contentions over the smallest things abound. 25 years living, working, participating in and supporting the community and you're still "new" - such a hostile mentality. Generational feuding is de rigueur with many driving 300klm round trip to avoid shopping in the town because they don't want to support "those b@st@rds" . Many, many people dying of all kinds of brain, skin, organ cancers, their rates are some of the highest in Australia. We were extremely lucky to get an offer on our house and sold 12 months ago. Within weeks of living at Tweed the difference in our energy was amazing. Niggling maladies cleared virtually overnight. We will never go back there, not even to drive through; too many bad memories. There are towns that exist where "a town is what you make it" does not apply. Tenterfield is one such town.
