South Windsor

"Not very friendly or safe (SOUTH WINDSOR IM TALKING ABOUT.. Not so much the rest of the hawkesbury)"

Found it unpleasant and unfriendly place to live, makes me wonder how many of the '5 star reviews' are in actual fact written by home sellers or real estate agents. Of course Windsor as a whole is quite lovely with nice things to do but I would personally avoid South Windsor to live, especially the main streets (lets say any of the main walking roads between south windsor and the [train station / numerous pubs and/OR centerlink]....)

Had excellent internet access so there is a plus. Public transport is close. Plenty of DOH homes around if you need a cheap place provided by the government and your into that sort of thing. (oh yeah the DOH also rents 'private' units / flats / apartments etc for their residents now so dont be surprised if there are DOH people living in the 'private rental' next door, or similar).

Oh yeah gotta love the cockroaches running about everywhere, we religiously bombed the house and roof/attic area it was the only way to keep the things out but from the constant infiltrations I can only assume most people consider them their life long friends..

If you have the privilege of living in south windsor you will find even the council workers dont give a damn about you when they start doing extremely noisy compacting and demo sawing at 6.30am, which by the way is absolutely wonderful for shift workers.

Great for

  • Close to centerlink
  • Close to plenty of pubs and bottle shops, plus hospital if you OD or get bashed.
  • Plenty of cockroaches for the entomologists in all of us
  • Affordable living
  • Direct link to city (train)

Not great for

  • Unsafe, and always feeling 'on-edge'
  • Unpleasant school enviroment for kids!
  • No very big shopping centre
  • Low socioeconomic area
  • Unpleasant people
