Ringwood East

"Well located and improving"

We purchased in Ringwood East in 2010 and have seen the area improve over the years. The recent announcement by Public Transport Victoria to abolish zone 2 means the daily commute by train now costs the same as zone 1 - excellent news and value.

Commuting time by train during peak times to Flinders Street station can be as little as 40 minutes by changing at Richmond to avoid the city loop. I regularly work at Southbank and door to door is less than an hour.

By car, transport links are excellent with easy access to Eastlink. Out of traffic, driving from home to the Flinders Street area is easily achievable in 30-35 minutes and the airport is around 50 minutes drive. At peak times both these journeys can take around an hour.

The streets are quiet and leafy and there are still some great looking character weatherboard houses dotted around.

Ringwood East Primary School is being refurbished, Tintern schools are located in the area, and Ringwood East is zoned to Ringwood High School, which has a great reputation.

The local area is being improved by major redevelopment of Eastland which also includes upgrades to the transportation links. Further information is available from the following links:

New development of 'Aquanation' is underway which adds to the list of benefits to the area, described in the following link:

With regards to housing value, we had our property valued at the end of 2013 and again in December 2014 and it has seen an increase of around 20%. We also had a rental appraisal performed in the same periods and from 2013 to 2014, the rental potential has grown by over 15%.

In some respects, the local shopping strip does let the area down but we have seen improvement over the years, which is hopefully set to continue.
