Elizabeth

"Elizabeth - The goods and the bads"

Before I moved from Elizabeth with my partner I had lived there for fifteen years. I grew up there as child and experienced school life and up until my twenties there... There is alot about Elizabeth that is not all that fantastic as other people have stated in thier reviews. Elizabeth is a massive suburb where some areas are less desired than others. I lived in Elizabeth Grove and enjoyed myself there and found it a nice place to live, yes there is a higher crime rate then other suburbs in Adelaide and alot of people that live there are in Housing Trust Homes. I dont think i'd go walking around after dark but you know what I wouldnt do that any in other suburb either.

The main shopping centre in Elizabeth is handy and has two supermarkets (Coles and Woolies), there is also a Myer, Target and Big W and lots of clothes stores if you want to have a browse. Munno Para shopping centre is pretty close to for Bunnings, Fantasic Furniture and Harvey Normans. Obviously when you're in a suburb with low income earners they are going to be at the shops, sometimes you think oh dear god when you see some people but to tell you the truth there are more well dressed and nice people around than 'bogans'.

I find Elizabeth mostly clean but in some places it is not. Street cleanliness varies from one street to the other, there are some areas in Elizabeth that i would avoid myself and would not go out of my way to go for a walk. Living is fairly cheap in Elizabeth and for families who are not that well off and want to buy thier own home there is alot of nice houses waiting to be snapped up, I've always thought about buying a little house in Elizabeth North, some are very nice.

There was never alot of noise around out neighbourhood but I cant speak for other areas because I only ever lived in the one house, I suppose it depends on what road you live on and who lives around you. But generally I think everythings pretty quiet. I havent ever had anything happen to me in Elizabeth but have been yelled at a few times by randoms but be cautious because there is more crime in this area and things do happen. Our house had never been broken into or robbed, we have a dog which has never had anything happen to her.

I dont want to go on too long and ramble but I think people only focus alot on what they hear about Elizabeth, if you do intend to buy property here make sure you get a feel for the area and who lives around. Good luck.
