Thorne Road

"Quiet leafy street famous for its historical Anglican Church, St Georges"

St. George’s is located on Thorne Road in Birkdale in a quiet neighbourhood.

The Anglican Parish of Waterloo Bay, located in the Redlands Shire just outside of Brisbane consists of 2 churches. In Birkdale, there is St. George’s and in Wellington Point, there is St. James’. Both buildings have halls available for functions. We have recently changed names from “Birkdale Parish”.

St. George’s is the larger of the two churches. The church is a quaint brick building with a capacity of about 100 people. The hall has a capacity of about 100 people as well with kitchen facilities. (fridge, stove and microwave). St. George’s is an ideal location for a medium to large wedding / baptism. www.apwb.net

Wahoo Court

"Quality Cul De Sac, green, quiet and safe with good neighbours."

Wahoo Court is part of Aquatic Paradise, Birkdale on the dry side off Dorsal Drive. Its cool name is after a deep sea fighting fish and should not be confused with Yahoo. Birkdale is just outside Brisbane on the Eastern fringe in the Redlands Shire and only 1.5k from the village of Wellington Point. Only a few hundred metres from the waters of Moreton Bay, there is always a cool breeze on a hot summers day and temperatures are always cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

At the end of Dorsal Drive is the local "Birkdale Gardens" shopping centre with Woolworths, Chemist, Newsagent, Butcher, Travel Agent, Optometrist and hair dressing salons both male and female. Additionally there are two liquor outlets, a pool supply shop and three restaurants including Thai and Balti and an up-market fish and chip shop.

Between Wahoo and Wellington Point lies the Redlands Sporting Club which caters for cheap meals, entertainment gambling and a place to meet friends. The Wellington Point Village is about 2km from the actual point and includes an astonishing 12 restaurant/cafes and the Wello Hotel which includes bars, gaming, restaurant and glimpses of the bay.

We eat at Wellington Point around twice a week and often drop in to the famous Tanjas cafe and coffee shop for coffee or a drink.

With over 10km of walking track in the local area both walking and cycling are well catered for. All in all a very pleasant place to be.
