I have lived in Albury my whole life and have loved every minute of it. It has the quietness of a country town but the services of a city in line with Melbourne or Sydney.

Great for

Thanks for the comments. I think there is an excellent shopping centre and you don't have the terrible traffic problems like Sydney. The rents seem very fair and better quality for money. I am not looking forward to winter there but you can't have everything perfect. I hope the be settled there soon. It is lovely and clean and I think there is enough to see and do there. The library is very modern. I found the people nice and friendly too.

I am relocating from Tassie, single retired lady. Overall the comments seem positive for Albury, but does that also apply to Wodonga? My biggest concern is whether the weather will be too hot in summer, I can handle the cold ( except when blowing a gale ). Does it cool down after a hot day? I tried to get this info from the BOM Stats, but didn't explain what I needed to hear!

Really helpful comments found here, thanks. Wondering if Prune St Lavington is Ok to live with young family?

If you want affordability and no traffic Albury/Wodonga is the place to live .. its one of the only rural cities that jad the closeness of three large cities .. 3 hours to canberra 3 hours to melbourne and 5-6 hours to sydney . I live in sydney and ive lived north and there are housing commission and drugs in every Crack and Crevice in the large cities .. the Gold Coast is drig central and Sydney is shocking and lets not talk about the price of housing .. I have friends that have lived in Wodonga and Albury central for over 20 years that have lived on the gold coast Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. If you want cut throat cold rude narcissist types .. move to Sydney or Gold Coast ... personally If I could live anywhere it would be a large rural area .. the only downfall to Albury is there are no beaches .. not everyone wants to live on the beach. Snow is very beautiful and you will not get that anywhere else in Australia

@paulinel2 - Regarding the weather in Summer, there are some nights where it doesn't cool down overnight, but mostly it does. This Summer (2020/21) has been very mild. If you go to the BOM and look at the 'recent months' tables you will see the overnight temperatures and minimums. Definitely warmer than Tassie though. You might prefer a coastal area that has milder Summers and more of a coastal breeze. If you do live in the Albury region, you will definitely want a house with some kind of air conditioning, unless it is super-well insulated & designed for ventilation - we use ours on & off for most of December, January, & February. (Its an older home)
