"A nice suburb insulated by rural areas"
For transparency's sake I'm a home owner here, lived here for a few years. I hope my review is considered fair.
The good:
- It's not a thoroughfare for other suburbs, so you don't often get random troublemakers coming through.
- It's insulated from adjacent suburbs by farmland.
- Seaside access is a great asset, afternoon walks etc are great
- There are some helpful and friendly people in the area - good community spirit
- The review bashing house values is absolute BS. Don't take my word for it, look on realestate com au and see how many cheap homes are available - hardly any - compare that with adjacent suburbs. I'm pretty happy with my house values since I purchased it.
The bad:
- It has its share of idiots in the area, fortunately there aren't a lot of them. Like the ones that don't understand the concept of driving appropriately in a built-up area. If you have kids, be wary of this.
- Internet access - it's excellent at my place but it's very hit and miss. The Govt used to have a map of the NBN nodes online but have since removed it, so internet quality is a lottery depending on where you are.
I haven't lived here long enough to see serious flooding issues, do your homework. Overall I consider this one of the better Moreton suburbs, but like most it's not without its problems. If you're considering a house with a reasonable block size at a reasonable price (as compared with the new overpriced 300-400m shoebox lots currently in fashion in new subdivisions), I think this is a good spot.
