Nambour

"I love this town"

My husband, myself and my young son have lived here for 3 months now and we love it. We are from overseas (myself UK and my husband Candian). After living in Redland Bay for 6 months we came up here as house prices were too expensive in Brisbane. We bought a great house, a short walk to town, schools and the train station for a great price. Nambour is one of the cheapest towns on the Sunshine coast, yet it is only a short drive to some of the best beaches in the world. Apparently it used to have a reputation but since living here i am yet to see to that. Its a safe town and everybody is very friendly. Like i said i have only been here 3 months, yet i have met all my neighbours and i am often chatting to people in the street or around town. Yesterday i came home to find some home grown veg left on my door step, presumably one of my neighbours. I have never lived anywhere as friendly as Nambour. Admittedly there are a few odd people hanging around central plaza, but you will find that at any mall, anywhere in Australia. Thats just where the like to congregate. But i have never seen any trouble and the streets are quiet.
Nambour is a great location as we are surrounded by great countryside and just a short drive to some stunning beaches and hinterland towns. We have a train that takes you to Brisbane or north to Noosa. The airport is only 15 min drive away which is fantastic and my husband takes regular trips to Sydney for work ad its great for visitors flying in and out. There is plenty to see and do in this area. Plenty of playgroups and mums groups. The library and swimming pool are very good. We have everything we need and want here in Nambour and i feel very fortunate to be able to live in this part of the world. There are some really nice Queenslander style homes throughout the town and fruit farms on the outskirts. The council are planning to bring back the old tram and have a route between the central plaza and the new shopping centre that is currently under construction. There are lots of new developments planned for Nambour and i am looking forward to seeing them unfold. I have never lived anywhere so friendly and welcoming. We are here to stay.
