Mascot

"Hidden Gem that is so close to the CBD !"

We live on the eastern side of Mascot, so its about a 20 minute walk to the Mascot train station. Alternatively to can walk to Mascot shops on Botany Rd and catch a bus that takes you to Central (they used to take you all the way to Martin Place which was ideal). Now its quicker to do a bus / train at Green Square combo and door to door its approx 40mins to CBD for me.

Our street is very residential, no units etc - super quiet and feels very safe. There is some plane noise - approx one day per week and they fly down fairly low but not too noisy (mainly domestic flights) - its part of Mascot's charm and the kids love it!

The area around the Mascot train station is exploding with units and new shopping centres etc, Eastlakes Crown Complex mixed resi/shops is scheduled to start in 2017 and will further lift the entire area and surrounds.

We are a 5 minute drive to Messina in Rosebery and all the arty eateries in that suburb :-) Highly recommend this hidden gem of a suburb

Great for

  • Central to everything
  • Train, bus and roads to city, M5 are all good.

Not great for

  • Occasionally hear a plane or two

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees

Hi Anthony,
Do you have any feedback on the schools in the area?
Thanks

Mascot is a family oriented suburb and you will find that once someone moves there, they rarely leave , you might call it a generational suburb. Anyone talking about plane noise or traffic don't really know the suburb and are potentially students who live near the train station which in realistic terms is a very new part of mascot. Over all it us a relatively friendly peaceful place , that contains some beautiful homes, which compared to other surrounding suburbs offer great value for money. E.g a beautiful federation home in Kensington which is 5 minutes away may cost 6,000,000 where as you will pay half that in mascot.
