Hartpury Avenue

"Right in the Middle of the Best of Elwood"

Hartpury Ave and Alfriston Street is an ideal location for anyone looking to live in Elwood. Ripponlea Station is only a 5 minute walk accross Brighton Road and has a good service into the City. Chapel Street and Brighton road trams also run from the end of the street.
It's all about location here as your right in the middle of the Brighton Road Shops (Pizza, Video Rental, dog Grooming, Local Milk Shop, Bottle Shop, Medical Centre and a couple of resturants), Tennyson Street Shops (Local Supermarket, Coffe Shops, Hair Salon, Fruit & Veg Shop), and Clarke Reserve (great friendly dog park and kids playground) St Kilda Public Gardens, Ormond road shops and the beach are only a 10-15 minute walk or about 3 minutes in the car. There are 3 coles supermarkets and a Safeway all only a short drive in Carlisle St, Glen Huntly Road or Barkley St. Carlisle St is also accessible by Tram or Train.
The locals are very friendly and varied but mainly young couples or families. There is a child care centre at the end of the road on Tennyson St and a number of local schools. Almost everyone has at least one dog and this is one of the best aspects of the street. Your dogs couldn't ask for better neighbours and considering the amount of dogs and residents it is still a quiet area to live.
If you do move into the area the only concern you should have is making sure the electricity companies get your correct meter number. Some of the blocks have changed address over the years and this confuses the utilities to no end. Apart from that all you have to do is work out enough time to spend down the beach and decide which place to eat out at or order in from. There are a massive amount of choices.
