Kiama Downs

"Safe, Clean and Green"

Bought in Kiama Downs 2 years ago and have not regretted it at all. There is a calm and tranquil atmosphere. The beach is fantastic, and continually is rated as one of the best in the area for cleanliness and safety for swimming. My 5 year old daughter loves the parks here and in nearby Kiama. My wife loves the alfresco dining at the cafe's of Kiama, I think they are great too. Kiama itself can get a bit busy during the school holidays, but generally the crowds do not come to Kiama Downs. There are also some great picnic spots on the banks of the Minnamurra river just a stroll away. The people here are friendly and love to exercise. Most days you will see people walking on the beach of an afternoon or heading over the walking tracks around the headlands. Kiama golf course is also here which has a good club attached to it. There are 2 mini shopping villiages in Kiama Downs which are handy, or a mall located in Kiama itself. The weather is generally nice, though sometimes can get quite windy. There is a railway line that runs down the centre of Kiama Downs, so can be a little noisy with freight trains, though is generally not bad. Easy to get to Sydney (2hrs train or car) or up to the Southern Highland (Hume Hwy) if heading south. Also the gateway to some beautiful spots down the South Coast. I always say you can tell a lot about a suburb by taking a drive around and checking how house proud the locals are. In Kiama Downs the yards are always mowed and neat. I always feel good when I drive around the area. I note too that you never see houses in the area on the market for too long, so there should be no problems for you if you wish to sell and move on later. Hope the review helps, good luck with the house hunting, and maybe we will be neighbours soon....
