"Must like driving"

We had heard the "it's not that far," "it has all you need," and the "it's a friendly community." No, it is far, and there is a reason the so called suburb is rated the lowest in Melbourne. It doe not have much of anything other than petrol. Isolation is what it is and lots of driving. Public transport is barely a thing and not on time, so not great for students or those needing a reliable system getting to schools or connecting trains, adding a lot of commuting time. Shops are friendly but general community is probably best suited to introverts. Neighbouring towns and suburbs describe Wandin North as snobbish and it is compared to our experience of what is considered outer suburbs.
Reflection is don't go further out than Lilydale or at most Mt Evelyn, you will probably need a generator and don't run out of anything unless you're happy to head back out in the car to other towns.
It does appear safe, except for the crazy speeding drivers through the roundabout or on the two main roads.
No urgent care, emergency or hospital facilities within an, expect-to-drive 25-30 minutes. Actually none in the Shire of Yarra Ranges!
The council does hard rubbish once a year, when they say and postal and deliveries run on rural terms. Internet isn't always reliable either.
Birds sounds are nice, it looks pretty, is quiet. Definitely a lifestyle change.
