Meerschaum Vale is a village which has no commercial buildings. There is a community hall, but nothing else, and this is where the locals meet. The nearest shops are at Wardell or Alstonville which are each about a 5 or so minute drive away.

The beauty of Meerschaum Vale is the fact there is no commerce! The population is around the 400 mark and there is a true community spirit. Your neighbours are far enough away to enable you to enjoy your own space, yet close enough if you need them. Most properties in Meerschaum Vale are acreage (some small and some quite large), with a small stand of houses along Wardell Road that are closer together. School buses run from Meerschaum Vale to all the local schools in Alstonville, Goonellabah & Lismore.

The beach is about a 15 minute drive away, with the river even closer. Ballina and Lismore are a 20 minute drive and you can be on the Gold Coast in under an hour with easy access to the M1 about 5 klms away, and you can be in Sydney in an hour from the Ballina Airport.

All in all, Meerschaum Vale is a great place to live if you are looking for peace and quiet, yet love the convenience of being able to access shopping, swimming, camping and boating all within a few minutes drive from your home. It's a very well kept secret. I have lived in Meerschaum Vale for over 10 years.
