"Nothing special with unsafe and noisy neighbours"
Have lived in Pooraka going on to 5 years now. While most of the houses do look nice and some gardens are well established with plenty of green lush flowers and bushes, you would be forgiven for thinking this is a good area going on appearences passing through.
However, if you are assuming this is a good area then you are sadly mistaken. It's ok, but have lived in better suburbs than this one.
Before living in Pooraka we lived around the Elizabeth area which generally has a bad reputation. Pooraka as we discovered after moving here is one of those areas that has its problems.
The street we live on has problems with noise and there have been about 3 home break ins on our street since we have lived here. If you like being verbally abused by a neighbouring family that's clearly lost their marbles, and having your visitors made to feel uncomfortable then by all means live here. Our street gets very loud late into the night sometimes with this oh so wonderful family on the street with speeding cars, honking horns and screaming. Very disruptive when you gotta be up at 6am for work. Mostly the neighbours are polite but it doesn't feel like you can count on them to watch your house if you go away on holiday. We understand that you can't choose your neighbours, but sometimes you encounter the difficult neighbours that disturb the peace. Also noticed that we get people passing by on motorbikes regularly which is unsettling. This area just doesn't feel safe and plan on moving out of Pooraka very soon, thank goodness for that!
I am certain that there are parts of Pooraka that are decent, but we have had a bad experience living here so that's why our opinion is negative.
