"vibrant, creative, alternative, easy going"

We used to live here but reluctantly moved on due to work commitments. However, we would love to return one day. Probably the best place we have ever lived in Australia.
Try to find a place that is on the south side and flood free.
William Street is my tip.

Are there any midges (sandflies) and do you really need air conditioning in the summer?

"we have a rental property here"

we will possibly move here once the jail has been built. Massive economical opportunites will filter into the community once the jail is build which should be in a couple fo years. Rumour is that the new QLD Police Academy is also going to be built here and that Bunnings are going to build there HQ here. Even if they turn out to be unfounded, your capital is safe here and growth is circa 12% pa.

"Peaceful, Friendly and Quiet"

Moved from Sydney four years ago and we love it here. People are friendly and laid back. Lots of amenities and things to do. Byron is close by as are all the services in the Gold Coast. With SE QLD taking off, lots of people now commute from here to work there. Great beach side, quiet beaches and safe ones to swim in for the kids. Some lovely little cafes and bars in Brunswick Heads.

Property is reasonable and we don't regret having moved here.

Great for

  • Quiet and safe
  • Family friendly beaches
  • Close to everything

Not great for

  • Shops are okay but improvements planned
  • Not enough GPs and Dentists
