Craigie

"Not as bad as it is made out to be. Happy Resident of Craigie!"

I've lived in Craigie for nearly 7 years and its a great place. Yes, you do get people going to the shops with no shoes and as with most suburbs you get your hoons. You can't fault it for its location and in my opinion Craigie is under valued. We have a new medical centre, new schools yet to be completed and a new land release in 2012 (old Craigie high school). Not 100% on the dates.

Its only 3 to 4kms to the beach and you can still purchase a home that close to the beach for under $500,000 and the blocks are a great size. I grew up in Hillarys and lived there for 18 years and you still had hoons and people going to the shops with no shoes/shirts. We lived very, very close to the beach and we used to get people graffiting the front wall, pulling up the plants, burnouts and all sorts of drunken/stupid behaviour.

The problem with some people is they want to live in suburbs that have a reputation as a trendy suburb. Some people love the status that comes with living in suburbs like Sorrento, Hillarys, North Beach etc.. (they are fantastic suburbs) makes some people feel a little above others and more exclusive than others like myself who live in Craigie (its full of bogans, not true) When i say some people i mean its mostly the 1st homebuyers and young couples. People always make jokes when i tell them i live in Craigie but they don't realise how good the spot is until they see for themselves.

With today's prices i think Craigie is one the best areas to buy for location, value and growth!!! If your not chasing the status or can't afford to buy on the other side of Marmion Avenue then Craigie is an area you should have a look at.

Albany Road

"One of the Best"

One of the best streets in the area. Has a 1950's feel with the style of houses and the mature trees. Easy access to beach, oval, town centre, schools. Nice and quiet. Lots of wildlife.
