Torwood Street

"Great Location, close to everything if you don't mind wet feet"

Having lived on Torwood street for 2 and a half years I got to see the various changes to the street. Until recently their wasn't much traffic however thanks to the changes in the lights on Milton road there is often traffic backed up half way down the street from about 7.30am to 9.30am. This should change back however once the road work is finished on Coronation Drive.
The houses on the northern side back on to the abandoned ex tennis courts which are currently (early 2010) under development application for up to 4 buildings of 20 stories in height which would definitely take away from the feel of the area should they go ahead.
The most notable point of this street is its ability to flood - the lowest point is at the intersection with Macintosh Street and in the time I was there flooded 4 times - the result being 2 cars being written off and numerous insurance claims. However If you are not in a property that has living space on the ground floor - and not many do due to this problem, you are relatively safe.

Having said all that it is a fantastic location, only a few minutes walk to Milton Train station, round the corner to Rosalie, down the road to Suncorp and Park Road - was the perfect place for inner but fairly quiet inner city living.
