"Growing country town - a few hours to Bris.& Gold Coast"

It is typical of most country towns in some respects, community spirit, everyone knows about the latest death, etc. It has good facilities for a small town with a decent sized hospital, a few medical centres, good parks with open air gym, nice safe river walk, fishing, bbq areas in town and at the near by dam. It has lots going on if you want to participate. The schools have been great for my children. It does get a bit boring for the older teenagers and young adults and singles with only a few restaurants, not much quality nightlife and no beach or ten pin bowling or gaming areas. Alot go to Brisbane for Uni and then return when they are ready to settle down and have a family. It is fine if you are 40 and over as there is ample to do and it is just an hour to Toowoomba, 2 hrs to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, 45 mins to Stanthorpe and similar to many great national parks. It is a great place to live but it did take 8 years or so to really grow on me.
