Portland Crescent

"Affordable changing family street"

I lived in Portland Crescent in a 3 be town house for years, that was 4 years ago. We didn't find it a problem. You are in the middle of housing commission which houses eldery as well as families. There are families that are unsavoury and I did hear rows on a monthly basis. The Police drove through regularly and the council does regular drive throughs to pick up any dumped rubbish/furniture. The up side is that it is affordable beachside living. Our property went up about $100K in 3 years. We bought into the area with the view that it has to improve as it is such a central beach and I'm sure that it will over time, but the commission housing is not going anywhere for long time so progress will be slow. Maroubra school wasn't ideal either, I viewed it and decided not to send my kids there due to the other families that went there. Snap up a bargin, use the beach and central location but have security on your home and park your car off street and look to get into the little catholic school if you can. Alternatively cross the bridge as we did as it was the best decision we made! Very family oriented, better beaches, no parking issues! loving Narraweena! :)
