As a resident of 5 years, I was really attracted to Fitzroy North for 2 reasons:

1) The beautiful green nature of the place
2) The slow-pace, outer suburbs feel it has, where your neighbours know your name and everyone is very happy to help.

I have lived in 11 suburbs in Melbourne, but I would not hesitate in saying that this is the best of them all. On a saturday afternoon you can sit back in a hammock with no traffic sounds, or go to Edinburgh Gardens and have a picnic. I never ever want to move!
