Malvern East

"Potentially better than Malvern proper"

1) Incredible access to city routes, including double freeway access (Princes Highway and M1), and the Glen Waverley train line (in contrast if you live in Malvern proper or South Yarra/Hawksburn, you have to take the not great Pakenham/Cranbourne lines)
2) Unlike Malvern proper, you are on the right side of town to access some incredible areas for food - the Greek sector of Oakleigh; multicultural Carnegie; Kingsway eatery mall Glen Waverley. That is on top of the Waverley Road eateries, Chadstone food courts, cafes. Yet still close to Glenferrie Rd eateries, Malvern too...
3) Unlike Malvern/Armadale, also on right end of town for the only 'Fitness First' chains available this end of town - Malvern Valley/Glen Waverley
4) Not only do you have Malvern side Gardiner Trail track/Urban Trail oasis, but on top of that you are close to the 'Oakleigh/Forest Hill end' of walking track all the way to Jells Park - a little secret. The greenery in this suburb is awesome.
It's starting to get more crowded already so get in now...
Buy if you can more towards the 'Central Park' end of Malvern East vis-a-vis very close to Warrigal Road/Chadstone shopping centre - however the whole area is very good..

Great for

  • Glen Waverley train line compared to Frankston/Pakenham line
  • On the right side of town to access Oakleigh and Carnegie food scene
  • Leafy and green
  • Friendly
  • Fantastic restaurants on Wavery rd

Not great for

  • To a certain extent towards Chadstone Shopping Town end, parking can get congested due to shoppers/lack of permit parking streets compared to Malvern proper
  • Maybe avoid the 'Malvern East' section just opposite Warrigal Rd if you can

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees
  • Hipsters
