"It stinks"
Werribee would be a good place if it didn’t stink 50% of nights. If you’re a ‘like the windows open at night’ kind of person, you ain’t gunna like Werribee. It’s a shame because the suburb itself is quite good. Everything you need is there. Slightly over represented with deadshits, but I’ve never had any trouble with em. Because of the stench issues, I wouldn’t be forking out the kind of money the are asking for homes here right now. If I’m going to part with half a mil for a place, I don’t want to open The windows to let in air smelling of turds.
Can’t believe more people haven’t mentioned the smell. If people tell you there is no smell, they’re lying. I live here. It stinks. Not all the time but often enough to give you the shits. Actually it stinks now.
Hi helenj5, The smell is from the Western Treatment Plant, as it's 110 square kilometres.. Wont be missing that smell
@helenj5 There is no "fertiliser smell": it is an urban legend designed to occult the real issue (i.e the Treatment plant's inability to implement proper odour control at all time). I have lived in rural/remote WA (with cattle, farms, etc) for 7 years prior to moving to Werribee. Never have I had any issue with smells from fertiliser back there. It's time to stop the misinformation.
There is no smell coming from the treatment plant. You can drive to the plants gate entrance and there is absolutely no smell. The smell you are so sooky about is the farms in Werribee South which are very close to Werribee CBD, its so close you reach the first massive crop paddocks in less than 5 minutes. The smell is so infrequent, and its definietly not how you're dramatising it, its not that intense. Its not a bother, it is just something that happens whenever the weather has some extreme wind blowing towards the CBD way and is because they happened to lay down fertiliser the same day, which usually only has any smell in the morning... The only possibility I can imagine for your dramatic kinda sook and far-fetched intense stench you're smelling is perhaps your house dwelling. Do you live in filth scattered around your bed or what?
Hi Daniel, I live just north of Werribee South and don't have a problem with fresh air. Very occasionally there is a fertiliser smell from the farms but this happens infrequently.
The large pools at the Western Treatment Plant have been covered for many years. I'm wondering if the smell you are experiencing comes from somewhere else?
