It’s a mixed bag. Prospect road is great and we have enjoyed living near there. Some lovely parks and playgrounds. But once you have been to Prospect road a few times there really isn’t much else in the area. And the ants, they are relentless. Some beautiful houses and some dumpy houses which have just been left to go dilapidated. If you buy here, most houses can only be renovated, not knocked down so a lot have just been left to crumble. And while I do feel relatively safe here, I walk with my family a lot and see quite a lot of drug paraphernalia around. I’m not sure I see the full appeal and I don’t think I would ever put myself in mountains of debt to buy there. Not the friendliest of places either, I suppose a lot of old money lives there.

Lots of perks to Labrador- close to Southport, quite a few eateries and takeaways, very close to the hospital and easy to get to the main hubs like Surfers Paradise. I suspect the reputation Labrador once had is dissipating as it is too expensive for particular social demographics to live in. That being said, like most of the Gold Coast I wouldn’t wander around at night. But the Broadwater is very beautiful and there are a lot of nice parks and playgrounds. A lot of trees as well, so in spring there are a lot of butterflies. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you like them) there are a lot of bats but I’ve seen owls in the area, possums and lots of lovely birds. People are generally friendly, most will say hello on passing. Some undesirables hang out near the Aldi and carry on at night but as I said, I think it may be too expensive for them now .
