Mascot

"Look again Mascot is developing more trendy by the day. 2 stops to the city."

Lived here for the past year and have seem some great changes with its attractiveness for renters and buyers. The public transport is great and fast and now the trains are no longer privatizes. its even better value.

Also something that makes it a nice place to live is the main shopping area of Mascot along Botany road. During my past 12 months of living here I have seen new coffee shops open up and the image of being a but of a stale run down area as it was many years ago with the workers cottages is now modernizing with a different crowd that are looking for trendy place to shop and eat and spent.

It is still an untouched one of the sydney villages because it has a cute local feel. however with the growing appeal of the area lots of the family business from the ethnic community are updating the look of the shops but still keeping the great cultural diversity that makes these villages such a pleasant place to walk around and live next to.

new shops include; Bourke street Bakery, Christophers cake shop enlargements, gloria jeans, new sushi place new fitted out bottle shop, dentist... the list goes on.

its really on the up and up and I am almost in a position to buy a second investment property in this booming rental market.

Great for

  • Train, bus and roads to city, M5 are all good.
  • Beach is not too far
  • It is in the easter suburbs and still cheap for what you get

Not great for

  • The shopping village closes too early on saturday and sunday at 4.30 (but getting more hours in the night)
  • Occasionally hear a plane or two
  • Not as fashionable as surry hills and rosebery but its developing fast.

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids
  • Tourists
  • LGBT+
  • Hipsters
  • Students
  • Trendy & Stylish

I’m with you! I really rate this suburb highly for affordability and value for money.
I think you were to kind with your comment “ occasionally hear a plane or two” considering there are parts of the suburb I would describe as terribly affected by aircraft noise and fumes, but as long as you stay away from these streets Mascot offers so much more for so much less then neighbouring suburbs.
