"Abundant employment coming and good healthy country life."
Wandoan is a small town of about 600 people. Thay are friendly and any stranger is accepted into the fold. The town is built on a large bed of coal and the surrounding area is loaded with coal and coal seam gas. Houses are becoming hard to get and prices are rising quickly. A four bedroom home fully furnished is now realising $600 per week, and this loooks like rising because of the lack of housing and the lack of land to expand. Vacant blocks are being snapped up and Ray Mortimer from Wandoan Realty has now sold most of his stock, if not all. The town is in the lull before the storm. There are Coal companies surrounding the town with leases and there are gas companies drilling over all of the land. Future Infrastructure includes : Xstrata intend to have 11 open cut mines, Power Station to be built, rail line Bannana to Wandoan to be built, gas pipelines to Gladstone to be built. Waterr pipeline to Wandoan to be built. Countless other projects from other coal companies who have leases in the area. Abundant employment, good social structure but limited. Has good schools, Civic centre, ambulance station and hospital, golf course.
