I can't recommend this suburb highly enough. It has everything one's would need, and has a really good connection to Sydney CBD and Parramatta. Everything about it is excellent: plenty of good childcare and schools, convenient local shops with Woolworth and Coles, close to Top Ryde, IKEA Rhodes, great public library, fascinating cafes and restaurant, amazing connection via train/bus/ferry. If you are rather active, there are many good options for outdoor activities around, including great bike tracks by the waterfront and a huge swimming pool in Ryde.
