Werribee

"A fantastic community!"

I have lived in Werribee my whole life, and it is really starting to boom! It's cleaning up its act and getting serious. Crime isn't all that high as what it used to be, and it is becoming much more civilised, peaceful and respectable.
Living in Werribee is like living near the coast (Werribee South beach), living rural (lots of farm land and countryside), and living near the city (cafes, restaurants, shopping).
Werribee is a big town with a main shopping centre, the Werribee Plaza with over 230 stores including Big W, Kmart, Coles, Woolworths and even Myer. It will be redeveloped so it will become double the size, so it will be like Highpoint. There's the Open Range Zoo, Werribee Mansion, State Rose Garden and Werribee Park Golf Course just 5-10 mins from the town centre, with the beach an extra 5-10 minutes further.

The main street, Watton Street, is lined with trees and cafes which overlook the Werribee river.
The people are some of the friendliest I have ever met. Mynt and Volt are the nightclubs popular with young adults/teenagers. There's some great events that go on in Werribee such as the Weerama (street parade with games and rides), Werribee Racecourse Market, Twilight Cinema at Werribee Park, and other events. There's also the Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre, so there's a real sense of community here and you can't really get bored.

Werribee is only 30-40 mins by train to both Geelong and Melbourne. Though the public transport in Werribee is not all that great, but still not bad.
There are plans to develop Werribee more including the Wedge Street Piazza (google that!) in the town centre, apartment living, and also the new Wyndham Harbour which is going to be constructed (check that out too!).

It's certainly a developing suburb and I think people ought to give Werribee a chance. It is genuinely moving on from the western suburbs stigma and is definitely becoming a more attractive suburb to live and work.
