Barkly St

"Good location but overrated"

Close to nice little park, nice and quiet when I've walked through. But others seem to have overrated this street. It is squishy and parking is an issue. Small blocks with high property value and high rent because of postcode. Whats good about it would be that you get stumbling distance to Sydney road cafes, bars and restaurants, but you get this with any number of streets in the area.

Victoria St

"A bit of Brunswick that is almost great"

Victoria street has a bunch of very good cafes near the Sydney road end, a laundromat, barber and a couple of boutique type shops. Cute pub near business incubator. It also has a fair bit of industrial type businesses, I always smell paint fumes and other chemicals while walking along it. Very multicultural in its aspect.

Dawson Street

"Dawson street good area but..."

Dawson street has a lot going for it: near parks, library and Brunswick baths. But Dawson street is a main road, busy with traffic for most of the day. Like other bits of Brunswick it also has a number of industrial type facilities on the street. So if you like diesel fumes and the dinging-grinding of trams then knock yourself out. I live within walking distance to Dawson street and I was really surprised to see it rated so high. It seems really overrated here, possibly driven up by agents and owners looking to sell. Sure Sydney road is nearby, but Sydney road is also nearby a lot of other quieter and nicer streets. Like much of the Brunswick postcode rental costs are too high for most of average quality properties on this street.

Tinning Street

"Near good eats and arts"

Just off fantastic Sydney road, so close to a lot of great cheap eateries, decent bars and good pubs. Brunswick is really an arts type precinct in many ways, with live music venues, pubs with comedy acts and galleries scattered throughout the area.
